"Capt Mike", a U.S. Navy veteran with over 30 years of safe boating experience on Florida waterways, leads our airboat tours with unmatched expertise. Certified by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) Boater Education Safety Program, he holds a valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License for vessels up to 100 tons. During his naval service, Capt Mike was a vital crew member aboard the USS Sellers, an Adams-class guided missile destroyer (DDG-11) based in Charleston, South Carolina. From 1987 to 1989, he served two consecutive years underway, conducting anti-drug interdiction missions along the Eastern Seaboard and Caribbean, joint coalition operations in the Mediterranean, and flagship visitation exercises across Gulf Coast ports in the Gulf of Mexico, until the ship's decommissioning in 1989 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. His extensive Navy training includes deck seamanship, helmsman/lee helmsman qualifications, small boat operations, navigation, shipboard firefighting, and damage control-skills that ensure your safety and an exceptional experience on Jacksonville and St. Augustine's thrilling waterways.
